Managing Partner, Hickson Law Group

Maana P. Hickson is an elder law attorney admitted to the Massachusetts Bar since 2009. She founded Hickson Law Group with a singular focus: helping Massachusetts families navigate the complexities of MassHealth and elder law.

Prior to establishing the firm, Attorney Hickson served as an estate planning and elder law paralegal and law clerk for approximately seven years before earning her Juris Doctor from New England Law | Boston in 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a major in legal studies and a minor in psychology. This depth of experience gives her a thorough, practical understanding of elder law from every angle.

Attorney Hickson counsels and advocates for her clients in all aspects of elder law, including estate planning for long-term care, advising on eligibility for MassHealth benefits, and preparing and filing MassHealth applications and appeals — both for long-term care benefits and home-based and community-based services. She also assists clients with asset preservation planning and spend-down strategies.

She previously practiced at Rubin Hay PC in Framingham and Cody, Cody & McCarthy, LLC in Quincy, building extensive experience in elder law and estate planning before launching Hickson Law Group in October 2021.

Attorney Hickson is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), including its Massachusetts Chapter (MassNAELA), and was recognized by Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
